We are developing a new co-operative (Collective) for established fine artist professionals to sell their paintings, 2D, and mixed media artwork. Strategic locations are currently being investigated by real estate brokers in Asheville, NC, Birmingham, AL, and/or Nashville, TN. Each gallery will employee a full-time manager who will constantly and consistently market the gallery and its members. Furthermore, designers/decorators in each state will be identified and encouraged to visit the gallery.
As an artrepreneur, there's a price for doing business. Collectively, however, gaining representation in a new market is an affordable option, comparable to what it would cost an artist to exhibit at a weekend fine art show.
If you are a fine artist seeking representation in Asheville, NC, Birmingham, AL, and/or Nashville, TN, apply to be a part of one, two, or all three collectives. Please note that this is a juried art selection process. Unfortunately, not everyone who applies will be accepted.
The broad strokes:
* Membership will be limited to 20 fine artists only, which will include painting, 2D and mixed media.
* Each artist is required to pay a monthly membership fee of between $200 - $400 depending on the city. This money will be used for space rental, taxes, insurance, power, internet, etc. Moreover, a six month membership is required, and the total fee is paid in full at the beginning of each 6 month period.
* Each artist is responsible for getting their artwork to and from the gallery. When artwork is received by the gallery, it must remain for at least 2 months. After two months, the artist may retrieve the artwork at their expense.
* Each artist will be given equal, prominent, and appropriate placement within the gallery. The display space allowed will depend on the square footage.
* The retail value, set by the artist, should be no less than $200 for each piece. Also, no sleeved prints or reproductions.
* When a sale is made and the money is collected from the customer, the artist will be paid 80 percent of the final sale price. Twenty percent will be kept by the gallery for employee and marketing costs.
* Artists are not required to sign the real estate lease or work at the gallery. Artists are not required to be at gallery shows/parties.
In short, being a member of this collective is similar to being a member of a club in that you have no legal ownership or long-term legal obligations. Your membership solely allows you, the artist, the right to prominently display and sell through representation. If you have any questions, please email me at [email protected].
